Oh yeah, one more thing…have fun! Blogging is such a great way to express yourself, who you are, what you love, to make some friends along the way, and to maybe even help a few people who read your in vitro post and now know that they are not alone in their journey through life. Don’t post just to post, but when you do have content you want to share, try to share it around the same time or same days each week so readers will know when to go out to your blog to look for a new post. With that being said though, if you don’t have anything to say, don’t say it. And last but not least, I completely recommend in having a schedule so people know when to expect your posts. It really lets them know how much you appreciate them taking the time to follow along with you and your blog. I know we are all SO busy, but try to at least pick a time each day or each week to respond to readers whether it be via email, social media or on your blog. A pretty picture will grab people’s attention, and writing about what you genuinely love will keep them there. Most of the compliments I get each day on my blog are that people love the photography. I didn’t do this until after a year into blogging, but take high quality photos. Your love will shine through in your posts, and others will notice and invest in what you have to say when you’re genuine. My biggest tips for blogging are first and foremost, blog about what you love and what interests you. Laura: Blog- Walking In Memphis High Heels (Started in 2012) Being interactive is so important in cultivating that sense of community. My advice would be to respond to your friends and readers when they leave comments or ask questions. I’ve met so many women from all walks of life with different life experiences, yet we still have so much in common. One of the best parts of blogging is the friendships and community I have formed with it. How do you want to be identified, someone who only posts what is trending or someone who can take a trend and add a little personal twist? I always aspire to be the latter but that is just my opinion! This is the first and last impression you will leave with your followers. Remember to always stay true to your personal style. Roshni: Blog- Glamrosh (Started in April 2015) In the long run this will help you greatly! Plus, working with brands you truly love will produce better content because you’re willing to go above and beyond for each collaboration.
It’s perfectly ok to say no to a brand because you know your reader base and the brand you’re building wouldn’t love it. You want to make sure that when you work with a company the fit is perfect for both your brand and the company you’re working with. You don’t have have to work with every company that emails you for a collaboration. Julianna: Blog- Blush and Camo (Started in 2015) It’s what makes us feel connected! Just do you girl! Don’t be scared of being vulnerable or exposing insecurities. Focus on creating quality content that you feel passionate about that also helps your target reader. Let your personality shine through in your writing, photos, or videos.

In a sea full of influencers, it’s easy to compare or feel like you need to keep up with the joneses, but don’t! The only way to gain a loyal, authentic following is to stay true to who you are and what you believe in. Being prepared and ahead of the game is a big key to success! I typically shoot 4-5 looks at a time so that I can get photos back, get creative and plan content. From posts, to shoots, to topics and ideas, plan, plan,plan. My other piece of advice would be to plan ahead. It shows your professionalism and increases your validity. Your photos are a representation of who you are. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Find a few photographers in your price range that you are comfortable with, represent you well and show the quality of your work. Seeing as I consider myself a newbie still, I have pulled on a few bloggers that I have learned a TON from and really look up to! I do have a few cents to offer as well!
